When Free Implementation Isn’t Free

We were recently approached by a prospective customer comparing our costs to another EHR’s fees.

We welcome such comparisons and often learn a lot about our pricing compared to others. This recent comparison was no exception!

As we moved through the pricing, we found our monthly cost to be similar. We were about 10% less, and we provide 24/7/365 Live US-Based Support where the other EHR does not – so considered that a “win” for us.

However, when it came to implementation and training, the other EHR charged $0, but we charge a per Provider Start-up Fee. Our system comes with lifetime unlimited personalized web training and customization services, so we thought that was a key differentiator. However, we were still surprised the other EHR could offer any implementation and training for free.

Upon closer examination of their fee structure, the other EHR contract was for five years, and if the customer cancels before the end of the five years, they owe the EHR vendor $5,000 to compensate for the implementation and training services.

As the old saying goes, “if it seems to good to be true, it probably is.”
